A friend of mine recently brought a Spyder Paintball Marker that needed
repair. The gun was in pieces, after putting it together and
charging the gun I realized it still would not fire. I disassembled the
handle as this is where the electronics for the gun are contained.
I inspected the main capacitor and realized that it was blown. If you
look closely at the top of the capacitor you can see it is puffy. I
was able to find the capacitor at an online retailer for a few dollars.
After a quick solder job I put the board back inside of the gun and
assembled the handle to test it out. If you notice I have two boards here,
that's because after talking to a friend about this project they informed
me that they too had a problem with the same gun.
This is the gun partially assembled with the new capacitor in place. The
LED's light up correctly and the gun fires correctly. Later I put the gun
back together and it was tested with an air tank at full automatic mode
(it passed).
